Ingredients
- 1 cup milk (or milk alternative)
- 2–3 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Pinch of nutmeg
- ⅓ cup dark chocolate (chopped or chips)
- 1–2 tsp brown sugar (optional, to taste)
- Pinch of sea salt
- ¼ cup heavy cream (or whipped cream alternative)
- 1 tsp honey
- Zest of ½ an orange
Instructions
In a saucepan, warm the milk with whole cloves, cinnamon stick, and nutmeg. Let it gently heat and infuse for 5–7 minutes, without boiling. Strain out the spices. Add dark chocolate, brown sugar, and sea salt; whisk until smooth and creamy.
In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with honey and orange zest until soft peaks form. Pour the hot chocolate into a mug and top with the orange-zest foam. Garnish with a tiny strip of orange peel or 1 whole clove.
