Blend together the sour flavors of amla powder with strong flavors of garlic, ginger and other complementing spices to create a tempting sauce/
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon amla powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- Salt to taste
- Chopped fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add to it the minced garlic and grated ginger, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the amla powder, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, and black pepper powder. Cook for another minute to toast the spices.
- Add the diced tomatoes (with their juices) to the saucepan. Stir well to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
- Let it simmer gently for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Season the sauce with salt to taste. Once the sauce is ready, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool.
- Use the blender to blend the ingredients together. Garnish the sauce with fresh cilantro and serve.
- This spicy amla tomato sauce pairs well with grilled chicken, pasta, and roasted vegetables.
