Apple pie spiced with Ceylon cinnamon makes a heavenly treat. We bring this wonderful recipe to help you prepare this delightful dessert.

Ingredients:

  • For the Crust:
    • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
    • 1/4 to 1/2 cup ice water
  • For the Filling:
    • 6 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon Ceylon cinnamon powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions:

In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Divide the dough in half, shape into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugars, flour, Ceylon cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss to coat.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out one disk of dough and fit into a 9-inch pie plate. Add the apple filling. Roll out the second disk of dough and place over the filling. Trim, seal, and flute the edges. Cut slits in the top crust to vent.

Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly. Cover the edges with foil if they brown too quickly. Let the pie cool before serving.
