Cottage Cheese (Paneer) Curry

Prepare this delicious and wholesome main course paneer curry which makes a perfect combination with Indian flatbreads and steamed rice.

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams of cottage cheese (paneer), cubed
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coarse black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

Heat oil in a pan or wok on medium heat. Add cumin seeds followed by chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook them for a minute. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy. It is time to add turmeric powder, coarse black pepper powder, and coriander powder. Cook everything for couple of minutes and then add cubed cottage cheese.

Gently mix the cottage cheese to ensure that it is coated with all the spices. Add fresh cream and mix it. Adjust the consistency by adding water. Add salt and allow the curry to simmer for 5 minutes. Lastly, add garam masala and garnish it with freshly chopped cilantro leaves.
