A warm, aromatic rice bowl where subtle spice layering builds depth without overpowering the simplicity.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked rice (preferably cooled)
- 1.5 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp yellow mustard seeds
- ½ tsp table-ground black pepper
- ¼ tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
- Pinch of garam masala (finishing touch)
- Salt to taste
- 1 small onion, sliced (optional)
- 1–2 garlic cloves, minced (optional)
- Lemon juice (optional)
- Fresh herbs for garnish
Instructions
Heat butter in a pan and add mustard seeds until they crackle. Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft and lightly golden.
Stir in rice and mix gently to coat evenly. Season with salt, black pepper, and Kashmiri red chili powder.
Cook for 2–3 minutes so flavors blend into the rice. Turn off heat and finish with a pinch of garam masala.
Add lemon juice and fresh herbs before serving.
