Classic Tomato Sauce with Bay Leaf

Prepare this delicious tomato sauce spiced with bay leaf. It makes a fantastic addition to pasta, curries, pizzas and more.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz / 800g) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper powder to taste

Instructions:

Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened. Stir in crushed tomatoes, bay leaves, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cook uncovered for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens and flavors meld.
