Bechamel Sauce

Here is the simple recipe of the famous bechamel sauce to make one at home.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes until it forms a smooth paste. Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure to break up any lumps. Continue to cook, until the sauce thickens and comes to a simmer.

Add the nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce is smooth and thickened.

Use immediately in recipes or store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
