Clove-Spiced Gingerbread Cookies

Make this festive season smelling beautiful with these gingerbread cookies spiced with cloves.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.


On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes.

Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cool, decorate the cookies with icing.
